When her health evaluation showed she had high cholesterol, Daniela decided that she was going to do more than just take medication to help with the problem. After connecting with a health coach, Daniela started making lasting changes to her diet and exercise routine. As a result, her LDL has dropped 56 points and she feels more confident than ever about her health.
How Daniela lowered her cholesterol levels by 56 points
Shortly after my first screening with Interactive Health, I was diagnosed with high cholesterol. I talked to my doctor about it, and she prescribed me cholesterol medication to help keep everything in check. While the medication helped, I figured there was always more I could do to be healthy.
When I took a good hard look at my lifestyle, I realized I was consumed by my work routine and I never really gave much thought to exercise or meal planning. I was at my heaviest so I decided to enroll myself in health coaching.
With the recommendation of my coach, Janet, I started by reducing my intake of sweets and refined carbohydrates. I also learned how to meal plan, and that prevented me from eating out so much. One thing I hadn’t realized is that eating at consistent, regular times can help with losing weight.
Along with eating healthy, I started exercising more too. Over 13 weeks I was able to work my way up 45-60 minutes a day, at least 3 days a week. My favorite things to do were spinning classes, Zumba, and walking on a treadmill. By August, I had lost a grand total of 20 pounds.
With the help of medication and new habits, my LDL went from 193 to 137. My confidence in my health is now higher than ever. I am so extremely grateful for getting help when I did. I’m not at my goal weight yet, but I know I can get there. I look at where I am now and realize I have already come so far on my health journey!
